PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as a metastasis inhibitor and also useful as a medicine for autoimmune diseases such as chronic arthrorheumatism because of having action to inhibit the excess wandering of leukocytes. CONSTITUTION: This new compound (or a slat thereof), a pentasaccheride derivative, is expressed by the formula (R<1> and R<2> are each amino group bearing a group selected from lower alkanoyl and lower alkyl groups; R<3> is a lower alkyl-substituted silyl, lower alkoxy, OH, etc.), e.g. 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl-O-(5- acetamido-3,5-di-deoxy-D-glycero-α-D-galacto-2-nonuropyranosylonic acid)-(2→3)- O-(β-D-galactopyranosyl)-(1→4)-O-[6,6,6-trifluoroα-L-fucopyranosyl-(1→3)]-O-(2- acetamido-2-deoxy-β-D-gulcopyranosyl)-(1→3)-β-D-galactopyranoside.
