PURPOSE: To obtain granular carbon showing an excellent decolorizing and deodorizing effect and having coarse particle size and high hardness by specifying the average particle size and hardness of granular carbon obtd. from soot produced from heavy oil combustion equipment. CONSTITUTION: This granular carbon is obtd. from soot produced from heavy oil combustion equipment and the carbon has 1-5mm average particle size and 2H-6H pencil hardness. This granular carbon is porous and the particle size can be easily controlled to 1-5mm average particle size by classifying by a simple shifting method. Therefore, a conventional granulating process can be eliminated. The granular carbon has high hardness as 2H-6H pencil hardness so that if the carbon is used to fill a basket-like container to purify river water or the like, the carbon particles do not break by the pressure but can maintain the proper grain size. Thereby, an extremely good filtering function for water is obtd. when the granular carbon is used for a filter. |
