PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the subject heat-resistant polymer useful for coating agents, structural materials, etc., by a simple process using a readily available raw material by carrying out crosslinking treatment of a specific silicon-containing polymer having SiH group in the presence of oxygen. CONSTITUTION: A silicon-containing polymer consisting of a recurring unit expressed by formula I [A is a divalent hydrocarbon; R is H or a monovalent hydrocarbon or OR' (R' is a monovalent hydrocarbon)] [e.g. poly(dihydroxysilylene) (1,3-phenylene)] is cast into a mold made of a fluorocarbon and allowed to stand at room temperature overnight to remove a solvent and heated at 300 deg.C for 1hr and further at 350 deg.C for 1.5hr in the presence of oxygen to carry out crosslinking treatment. Thereby, the objective heat-resistant silicon- containing polymer having a structure in which an organic polymer expressed by formula II [(n) is a polymerization degree] is bound with a siloxane is efficiently industrially and advantageously obtained by a simple process using a readily available raw material. |
