METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MONITORING LIGHT POWER

PURPOSE: To surely detect the power of light in the wavelength of signal light and to easily provide steep filter characteristics required for that detection concerning the light power monitoring method suitable to be used as a means for surely managing an optical communication system using a light amplifier. CONSTITUTION: Concerning light SA synthesizing first light S equipped with narrow spectrum characteristics based on a first wavelength λS and second light ASE equipped with wide spectrum characteristics including the first wavelength λS, when calculating the light power of the first wavelength λS in the second light ASE, the light power is measured at the plural measuring points of wavelengths λ1 and λ2 different from the first wavelength λS in the second light ASE, the spectrum characteristics of the second light ASE are applied to the measured values at the plural points, and the light power of the first wavelength λS in the second light is approximately calculated.
