Registration plate for land vehicles, having a registration number formed on it composed of transparent areas of characters which define the registration number and having a surrounding opaque background 1. The number plate is housed in a casing consisting of a fastening device which secures at least one printed circuit board inside the casing 2. The printed circuit board 3 includes a plurality of light-emitting elements 4 configured in the form of characters and aligned with the transparent areas defining the characters on the number plate. The electrical terminals 5, received in the casing, allow the supply of electricity to the printed circuit board in order to illuminate the light-emitting elements. <IMAGE>
