PURPOSE: To provide on image pickup device with excellent operability and excellent portable performance even when a display device with a monitor whose screen size is large is mounted to the image pickup device. CONSTITUTION: Holes 1a, 1b engaging with the lock claw of a display device main body 1B are made to the cover 1 of the image pickup device main body 1A. An LCD display device 102 is arranged to a front side of the cover 101 of the display device main body 1B and the LCD display device 102 acts as a view finder, a monitor and a display device and a touch panel 103 is arranged to the font side of the LCD display device 102 so as to keep a relative distance with the LCD display device 102. When the display device main body 1B is mounted to the image pickup device main body 1A, operation keys corresponding to operation buttons 7a-7e of the image pickup device main body 1A are displayed on the LCD display device 102. The image pickup device main body 1A conducts various changeover control of the image pickup device main body 1A based on the output signal of the touch panel 103. The operation by operation members whose operation is made difficult or disable when the display device is mounted to the image pickup device main body 1A is conducted by the display device main body 1B.
