PURPOSE: To obtain a polarizing plate in which a high degree of polarization can be maintained for a long period of time even at the time of irradiating the plate with strong ultraviolet rays by coating one of a pair of supporting films between which a polarizing film is interposed with an adhesive contg. an ultraviolet absorbing agent. CONSTITUTION: This polarizing plate 11 is composed of a polarizing film 12, a pair of supporting films 13 and 14 between which the polarizing film 12 is interposed and supported, a protective film 15 provided on the outer surface side of the plate 11 and an adhesive 16 having a release film 17. As for the polarizing film 12, a so-called H film formed by orienting a polyvinyl alcohol thin film while heating it and allowing the oriented film to absorb iodine, a film formed by allowing a uniaxially oriented polyvinyl alcohol film to absorb a dichroic dye, or the like is used. Each of the supporting films 13 and 14 consists of a film of a polymer such as triacetylcellulose, acrylic resin, etc., and the protective film 15 is formed from an acrylic ester resin or the like and also, the adhesive 16 contains an ultraviolet absorbing agent such as azoxy dye (pigment). |
