PURPOSE: To improve the job efficiency by trimming image information from an image memory storing the image information of a processing object image based on circumscribed rectangle information obtained from the picture signal of a noted picture element so as to save labors to delete information at the outside of an original. CONSTITUTION: An input image signal 1 is binarized into image run information 31 and outputted as a maximum run position signal 41. An inscribed rectangle extract means 5 extracts rectangles inscribed with all linked white run areas based on the maximum run position signal 41 and provides the output of an inscribed rectangle signal 51. On the other hand, an image memory 6 has a capacity to store an image equivalent to one page and stores image data till the signal 51 is outputted, that is, the input of the image data equivalent to one page is finished. As soon as the signal 51 is outputted, an image, from the upper end of the image is outputted from the memory 6, an image conversion means 7 trims the image by using the signal 51 and only the original area is outputted as an output image signal 8. As a result, the labor having been required to delete the information in the area at the outside of the original is not required and the efficiency of the entry job is improved. |
