The generator is intended for capturing the power of the wind for the production of electricity or for pumping water and it is novel compared with conventional wind- powered generators in that, in addition to the axis of rotation of the rotor being vertical 1, the device for capturing the thrust (power) of the wind is formed by panels which vary their area of exposure to the wind during the rotation of the rotor of the generator, through tilting movements which are processed as follows: when the arms 3 move in favour of the wind, the panels "open" - "open" position of Figure 5. When the arms 3 move against the wind, the panels "close" - "closed" position of Figure 4. In this way, the thrust of the wind is significantly greater in the zone of the rotor which rotates in favour of the wind relative to the other zone. The panels have counterweights 8 to facilitate tilting. The arms may have rolling supports 12 on the outer ends, supported by a circular groove 13. The rotor consists of horizontal, radial structures denoted by "arms" 3, to which the tilting panels 2 are fixed. <IMAGE>
