PURPOSE: To detect a black edge part accurately by providing a means deciding a pixel color of a noted pixel based on three-primary data obtained from a color image and a means detecting a pixel of the black edge part based on the edge detection result, a pixel color and a maximum density color to the processor. CONSTITUTION: A black edge detection section is composed of an edge detection section 1, a pixel color decision section 2, and a result synthesis section 3. The M, C, Y signals generated based on signals read by a scanner of the color image are inputted to the detection section 1. From the detection section 1, the edge detection result is outputted. The M, C, Y signals are also inputted to the pixel color decision section 2. The decision circuit 2 classifies the pixel color of the noted pixel into five colors of white, black, chromatic color, gray and gray color candidate based on the three-primary color data of the noted pixel and outputs the pixel color decision result. The result synthesis section 3 inputs the detection result of the detection section 1 and the decision result of the decision section 2. The synthesis section 3 outputs the black edge detection result. |
