PURPOSE: To suppress the changes of the filling weight and filling particle size with the elapse of time by filling a porous substrate with a paste in a V-shaped paste storage chamber while the substrate being moved and the paste being kneaded. CONSTITUTION: A paste 2 containing precipitable fine particles and supplied through a paste supplying port 20 is stored in a V-shaped paste storage chamber 11 through a hopper 9. In this condition, being set upward, a porous substrate 3 is moved from a porous substrate inlet in the lower part of a filling casing 10. At that time, while the paste 2 in the storage chamber 11 receives hydrodynamic shearing force and is kneaded and particles are prevented from precipitating, the substrate 3 is filled with the paste. Consequently, the substrate 3 is filled with the paste 2 while changes of the weight and the size of the filling particles with the elapse of time being lessened. Also during the process in which the substrate 3 filled with the paste 2 is raised up above the hopper 9, the substrate 3 passes between blades 6 and the excessive paste 2 filling the substrate is scraped and turned back to the hopper 9. |
