CONSTITUTION: A negative electrode 2, a separator 3 and a positive electrode 4 are alternately laminated and contained in a rectangular battery case 1 with a bottom, which is made of stainless steel. At that time, a porous body sheet made of a metal titanium fiber is adopted as the core material of the positive electrode. The core material is formed of a porous body sheet made of a metal titanium fiber processed into a nonwoven fabric after the metal titanium is ground. The positive electrode mix made of the active material or the like is applied to the porous body sheet, dried and rolled to form the positive electrode 4. Therefore, the positive electrode mix is held in the three-dimensional network of the core material. Accordingly, even when the volume change of the positive electrode mix due to charging and discharging is generated, the separation and fall-off of the positive electrode mix can be prevented and the life of charging and discharging cycles can be extended, so that the discharging of a large current can be realized.
