PURPOSE: To attain high speed quantization processing. CONSTITUTION: The quantization device is provided with a comparison controller 103 comparing the quantity of dividend A and a divisor B received continuously and controlling shift registers 101, 102 and a divider 105, a counter 104 counting continuously number of times when the divisor B is larger than the dividend A, the divider 105 using the dividend A and the divisor B to conduct division, and a multiplexer 106 selecting an output of the counter 104 or an output of the divider 105 and providing an output of the selected output, and in the case of A<B, it is predicted that the result of division is 0 and the division is avoided and the counter 104 counts consecutive number of times of A<B, and the multiplexer 106 selects the count and provides an output of the selected count. Part of division used for the quantization is omitted and then the quantization processing is conducted at a high speed. |
