摘要 PURPOSE: To maintain a proper acceleration performance with a less gear change shock at the time of a start by restraining the effect of a creep force at a process for reducing a brake pedal stepping force during a stop time as well as a time for transition thereto, regarding a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission having a torque converter (i.e., so-called 'torque converter vehicle'). CONSTITUTION: Each actuator A required for changing a shift gear, a means B for detecting the drive mode of a vehicle, a shift gear change control means C for controlling each actuator A, so as to change a gear to a shift stage corresponding to a throttle opening and a travel speed on the basis of information inputted from the means B, a means D for detecting the on/off state of a foot brake, and a stop control means E for giving an instruction for holding a transmission at a shift step equal to or higher than the second gear when a foot brake signal is turned on in a low speed travel mode including a stop mode. In addition, a start control means E is provided for instructing a gear shift to the first gear, when the foot brake signal is tuned off in the low travel speed mode including the stop mode.
