PURPOSE: To separately set shift components derived from vehicle characteristics and those derived from driver's service characteristics by setting one basic, speed- change-line characterizing a storage device and conducting all the speed change after finding out the relative deviation from the basic, speed-change line. CONSTITUTION: The speed change information 40 is found out by adding a relative deviation (quantity), which is calculated by a relative deviation calculating device 39, to a vehicle speed calculation value, which is calculated by a basic, speed-change- line calculating device 38 taking in consideration vehicle characteristics, a throttle opening, and a gear position 41. The information 40 thus obtained is compared with the vehicle speed by a comparing device 42 in order to determine a new gear position. The basic, speed-change-line calculating device 38 is for obtaining optimum, mechanical speed-change information on the characteristics of an engine or of a transmission, while the relative deviation calculating device 39 is for obtaining sensory data in correspondence to driver's needs or to the purpose of use of the vehicle. By conducting the speed-change control as above, a speed-change-point satisfying both driver's sensory requirements and mechanical requirements of the vehicle at the same time can be obtained. |
