PURPOSE: To provide a nickel electrode for an alkaline storage battery whose charging efficiency at high temperature is improved and the decrease of discharging potential is suppressed by the electrode. CONSTITUTION: A nickel sintered substrate is immersed in an aqueous nickel nitrate solution with 1.7 specific gravity at 80 deg.C for 5 minutes, dried, and immersed further in an aqueous solution containing 20-wt.% of sodium hydroxide at 80 deg.C for 15 minutes to fill the substrate with nickel hydroxide, which is an active material. Then, the substrate is immersed in an aqueous mixed solution containing cobalt nitrate and calcium nitrate for 5 minutes, dried, and immersed further in an aqueous solution containing 20wt.% of sodium hydroxide for 15 minutes at 80 deg.C to fill the substrate with co-precipitated substance consisting of cobalt hydroxide and calcium hydroxide. After that, the process to fill the substrate with the active material is repeated three times to produce a nickel electrode. |
