PURPOSE: To provide an alkaline secondary battery which excels in shelf life and suppressing self-discharge. CONSTITUTION: In this battery, a positive electrode and a negative electrode are disposed through a separator in an alkali electrolyte. A sulfur compound having a noncovalent electron pair such as thiol, disulfide, sulfide, thiophene, sulfoxide, sulfinic acid salt, thioslfate or sulfide is carried on the positive electrode or either one of thiol, disulfide, sulfite and sulfur dioxide is carried on the separator. |
