PURPOSE: To minimize a temperature rise at a connection in the joint of a superconducting cable and to secure the passage of a refrigerant by making the relation between the radius of a hole in a connecting pipe and the radius of the connecting pipe satisfy a specific equation. CONSTITUTION: To make a connection of a superconducting cable comprising a superconductor 2 wound around the outer periphery of a pipe-shaped former 1 and covered with an insulating cover 3, a cylindrical body is used that satisfies the relation (a)=(b)/√3 in which (a) is the radius of the inner periphery of the cylindrical body and (b) is the radius of the outer periphery of the cylindrical body. Therefore, a temperature rise at a joint portion can be minimized, and the superconducting state of the conductor can be stabilized.
