PURPOSE: To provide the translation device which can obtain a correct translation even when the original sentence to be translated contains words of a translation destination language. CONSTITUTION: A word ending table contains words and phrases of the 1st language which are possibly the endings of words of the 2nd language and part-of-speech information showing the parts of speech of the words of the 2nd language, including the words and phrases as the endings of the word in the 1st language sentence and their inflection types. A 2nd language processing part 122 refers to the word ending table to analyzes the grammatical meaning of the words of the 2nd language present in the original text in the original text, and refers to a 2nd language dictionary 132 to convert the words into correct parts of speech and inflection types. A language analysis part 121 analyzes the meaning structure of the whole original text from part-of-speech information on the words of the 1st language obtained by retrieving the 1st language dictionary 131 and part-of-speech information on the words of the 2nd language from the 2nd language processing part 12. A 2nd language sentence generation part 123 generate the translation of the 2nd language on the basis of the analytic result of the language analysis part 121. |
