PURPOSE: To improve the operability at the time of tabulation work editing by switching a character editing object to a cell which is adjacent in a specific direction unless a cursor can be moved in a cell as the character editing object in the specific direction. CONSTITUTION: As for the device which can perform tabulation work editing wherein plural cells encircled with longitudinal and lateral ruled lines are generated by using a ruled-line editing function and a character is inputted at a position specified with the cursor in the cell as the character editing object, a CRT display device 1 displays a document which is being edited and various message menus, and also displays a tabulation work and the cursor. Then when the cursor is moved by operating a keyboard 4, a CPU 6 which controls respective parts of the device according to a control program stored in a ROM 7 moves the cursor on the basis of the moving operation of the cursor and switches the character editing object to a cell which is adjacent in the specific direction unless the cursor can be moved in the specific direction in the cell as the character editing object. |
