PURPOSE: To prolong the life of a photosensitive drum and cartridge by making the thickness of a layer holding the charges on the surface of an image holding member larger than the thickness in the central part at both ends thereof. CONSTITUTION: A point 23 where the aluminum part of a cylinder 21 of the photosensitive drum is exposed is a beginning part of coating of the case an OPC(org. photoreceptor) layer is coated by a dipping method. The photosensitive drum has a part 24 where the surface is peeled exclusive of only the CPL (antireflection layer) made to remain after coating of the OPC layer. A rising part 29 in the case of coating of the OPC layer is a part before the film thickness stabilizes at the time of pulling up the photoreceptor drum in dipping. Both ends are respectively provided with the parts 30, 31 where the thickness of the CTL(charge transfer layer) is increased by governing the pulling up speed of the photosensitive drum. The parts 30, 31 where the thickness is large are the ends of a contact electrostatic charging member or the parts corresponding to the ends of a cleaning blade. The generation of the image defects by chipping is prevented by increasing the thickness of the photosensitive layer of these parts. |
