A light, versatile, easy-to-use swimming buoyancy aid kit including three flexible buoyant float portions (2, 4, 6). The first float portion (2) is long enough to fit around the wearer's neck and comprises two fastening systems each having a plug member (8, 12) and a socket member (10, 14) that can be releasably interconnected. Each end of the first float portion is provided with any two of the plug and socket members. The second float portion (4) includes a plug member (8) and a socket member (10) that can be not only releasably interconnected but also joined to a member on at least one of the two fastening systems of the first float portion (2). The plug (8) and socket (10) members of the fastening system on the second float portion (4) are attached to two respective ends thereof. The second float portion (4) is long enough to fit around the wearer's arms or ankles. The third float portion (6) has the same construction as the second float portion and is also provided with a fastening system similar to that of the second float portion. The buoyancy kit may be used as a life buoy, a life jacket or a waist float. The three float portions may be used together or separately in various ways and also enable the wearer to adopt a variety of swimming positions. |
