A neighborhood degree calculation part 33 calculates a degree of boundary neighborhood for the frame boundary of an input frame at each input point shown by the coordinate information, and stores it in a boundary neighborhood data buffer 43. Thence, a data correction part 34 corrects each input point by using the degree of boundary neighborhood, and stores obtained coordinate information after correction by overwriting on the coordinate data buffer 41. A character recognition part 35 performs character recognition by referring to a character recognition dictionary 51 after converting coordinate data after correction to a relative coordinate value. In this way, the coordinate information after correction goes to data in which the deformation of the character inputted by handwriting is corrected, which improves the character recognition rate.</p>
