摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To obtain a device which can decide the occurrence of a network fault by calculating the number of bits among the FCS error frames and comparing this number of bits with the threshold value calculated in response to the rate of occurrence of transmission line bit errors. CONSTITUTION: A frame analyzer CPU 3 receives a threshold value calculation command from a network analysis/display system 7 and calculates an FCS error frame occurrence distribution based on a received frame and a program and the information stored in a memory 5. Then the CPU 3 decides the threshold value 61 based on the calculated statistic value. When an FCS error frame monitor command is received from the system 7, the CPU 3 starts to detect the occurrence of a network fault based on the program of the memory 5 and calculates the number of bits among the FCS error frames to compare it with the value 61. If a network fault is decided, the fault occurrence result 62 is stored in a data storage 6 and reported to the system 7.</p>
