The body (1) of the appts. is generally U-shaped with an upper horizontal limb (2) carrying the infrared source(s) (3) directed towards the lower limb (2'), on which the tray (5) underlies a griddle (4). Power is supplied by a cable (7) with a regulator (8) which may be combined with the on/off switch.The resistive heating strip (9) is arranged in an insulating trough or cuvette of e.g. high-density ceramic fibre pressed by springs (12) against a glass-ceramic hotplate (11). To function as an open oven, the appts. is simply overturned with the tray and griddle removed.
