The axial clamping unit of a column to a structure is characterised in that it is composed of a clamping sleeve (3,23,33) joined to part of the structure (2) and arranged to receive the clamping piece (1).The method of clamping (4) consists of a first piece in the form of a wedge (5) placed between the assembly unit of the column and the clamping sleeve and is arranged to prop against the sleeve and against the column assembly unit. This clamps the latter in one direction in the sleeve.
