PURPOSE: To provide a developing device capable of preventing the occurrence of density irregularity in a longitudinal direction without one-sidedly supplying toner in the longitudinal direction by the change of the aggregation degree of toner. CONSTITUTION: When it is assumed that force in the horizontal direction per unit length in the longitudinal direction exerted on the toner on a toner regulating wall 6 in the case the aggregation degree of the toner is the highest isαH(kg weight/m), and the above force in the case the aggregation degree thereof is the lowest isαL(kg weight/m); the angle of repose of the toner accumulated on the regulating wall 6 in the case the aggregation degree thereof is the highest isθH( deg.) and the angle of repose in the case the aggregation degree thereof in the lowest isθL( deg.); the wall surface frictional angle between the toner and the regulating wall 6 isϕ( deg.); the density of the toner isγ(kg/m<3> ); the position in a vertical direction of the highest point on the carrying effective area of a screw 5 is U; and the position in the vertical direction of the highest point of the regulating wall 6 is V; the thickness D of the regulating wall 6 is set to satisfy D>(4αL/γtanϕtanθL)<1/2> and D>(4αH/γtanϕtanθH)<1/2> and D<2(U-V)/ tanθH.
