<p>PURPOSE: To improve an electron emission characteristic, and provide an electron source of long service life by applying the constitution that an electron source having a surface conductive electron emission element and emitting an electron beam depending on an input signal is fitted with an non-linear element having a non-linear volt-ampere characteristic and connected in parallel to the element. CONSTITUTION: An electron source having surface conductive type electron emission elements ES and capable of emitting an electron beam depending on an input signal, has non-linear elements D with a volt-ampere characteristic connected in parallel to the elements ES. In driving the elements ES, therefore, drive voltage therefor acts on diodes D as inverse voltage and spike form voltage SP(-) acts as forward voltage. No spike form inverse voltage SP(-) is, therefore, applied to the train of each element ES. Consequently, a phenomenon such as the characteristic deterioration and fracture of the elements ES does not appear, thereby extending the service life of a multi-electron beam source.</p> |
