The invention relates to a draw device for an edge strip and to a method for drawing an edge strip. The draw device comprises a first draw plate 11a for the edge strip and the blow nozzles D1 in connection therewith, the edge strip W1 being carried downwards by means of a blow system along the draw plate 11a1, the device according to the solution containing a second draw plate 11a2 for the edge strip and the blow nozzles D2 that blow against it, the function of which is to transfer the cut end W' of the threading strip forward to the line draw or the like. The unit can be raised and lowered in connection with a cylinder/roll at the stage when the threading strip is being cut and drawn forward to the line draw or the like. According to the invention the unit comprises a fixed blade 19a1 in connection with the second draw plate 11a1 and a blade 19b2 that must be moved in relation thereto and at least one functional device for moving this. <IMAGE>
