<p>A process for producing black particles coated with an insulation film and utilizable as, e.g., a spacer for liquid crystal display, which comprizes the steps of: (1) preparing a dispersion of metal oxide particles in an alcoholic solvent mainly comprising an intermediate alcohol; (2) activating the surface of each particle by adding an aqueous alkali solution to the dispersion prepared above; (3) preparing particles coated with a titanium oxide film by forming a titanium oxide film comprising TiO2 on the particle surfaces activated above; (4) preparing black particles by blackening the titanium oxide film by firing the coated particles prepared above in a reducing and/or nitriding atmosphere; and (5) forming an electrical insulation film on the surface of each black particle prepared above.</p> |
