Manually-assembled cable termination

The cable termination has a contact element (2) with a contact slit (9) for receiving the cable conductor (7) and a cooperating push-fitted element (1) used for pressing the cable conductor into the contact slit. The push-fitted element is secured to the contact element via cooperating retaining elements, with 2 different retaining positions, in which the cable conductor is secured prior to insertion in the contact slit and in which the cable conductor is fully inserted in the contact slit, respectively. Pref. the push-fitted element is made of plastics with integral resilient retaining elements cooperating with rigid retaining elements of the contact element.
