The device for rounding the ends of plastics bristles 4 on eg.interdental or mascara brushes uses a tool 7 in the form of a rotationally symmetrical eg. cylindrical hollow body 8 with an abrasive inner surface 10, which has an inner contour with at least along part of its length a smaller cross-section than the outer contour of the brush and between the brush and the tool there is a relative rotary movement and a reversible relative axial movement. The hollow body 8 may be profiled (Figs.7,8), stepped (Fig.9) or comprise two separate bodies (Fig. 10) or can be split (Fig. 11) to facilitate insertion of the brush. The hollow body 8 may also be perforated for removal of abraded dust.
