The connector has a plastic housing (10) with at least one contact chamber (1) for receiving a contact (6) from the cable side. A push mechanism (2) includes push elements (3) in the plug-in direction of the contact chamber. The push mechanism (2) has asymmetrical push elements (3) on one side of the contact (6). On the other side is a fixed rest element (5) along the entire length. The rest element is pushed against the spring contour (8). The contact is removed by a tong-type workpiece (12). The contact is then lifted up and outwards by another workpiece (11).
