PURPOSE: To provide the document information processing unit in which the operability is improved and the edit and input time are reduced. CONSTITUTION: A pen moving quantity discrimination means 34 receiving a pen input signal from a pen input means 31 discriminates whether or not a movement by drag of the pen is a prescribed quantity or below, and a pen input time discrimination means 35 based on a pen input signal from the pen input means 31 discriminates whether or not a time from a first pen-up of the pen to a succeeding pen-down is within a prescribed time. Then a mode discrimination means 32 discriminates to which mode among cursor movement/ range designation/gesture/hand-written character input modes the mode for pen operation is set based on the pen input signal from the pen input means 31, the discrimination result of the pen moving quantity discrimination means 34 and the discrimination result by the pen input time discrimination means 35. The mode of pen operation is automatically selected without the need for the selection of the pen operation mode by the user. |
