A foot exerciser (2) which may be used post-operatively after surgery. The types of exercises of the foot exerciser, encourage pumping of the rich plexus of veins in the sole of the foot thus providing the patient with some of the blood flow benefits of normal ambulation. The foot exerciser has securing means (4, 8, 20) and a mechanism (14, 18). The mechanism communicates with the securing means so that the movement of the distal end of the foot is limited to a predetermined pathway. The pathway is substantially circular and is for the right foot to turn clockwise and for the left foot to turn anti-clockwise.
