<p>A monitoring device and system for detecting fugitive emissions including emissions from valves and bolted flange connections, such as pertaining to stuffing box valves or bolted pipe flanges. The monitoring device comprises: firstly, an enclosure having at leeast two mating halves or connection enclosure members (25) fastened mechanically to encompass the volume about the valve or bolted flange connection, with ring-like gaskets (61) used on each side of the valve or bolted flange connection to seal the air space around the valve or between the members of the flange; and secondly, an indicating cartridge (15) with an emission indicating strip (10) or an adsorption detector within installed on the enclosure which contains material which will register a change if emissions leak into the enclosed air space of the enclosure around such a valve or bolted flange connection.</p> |
