Recycling plastic waste

In order to separate and recycle plastics waste of different compositions, the waste material can be foamed and unfoamed polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene in pieces or ground particles. The material is placed in a solvent of oleum gaultheria procumbens/synthetic methyl salicylate, and after 3 mins., the first dissolved product portion of polystyrene is sucked out. The container is refilled with solvent and, after 90 mins., the polypropylene is dissolved and extracted. The container is refilled with solvent and heated to 80 deg C for 90 mins., for the polyethylene to dissolve and be sucked away. When processing polycarbonate and styrene-butadiene copolymers, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymers, and unsatd. polyester resins with glass fibre reinforcement, they are held in the same solvent to dissolve in 18-24 hrs., for the solvent and plastics matter to be separated.
