The snowboard binding has a base element (3) fixed on the surface of the board and an instep and heel element. The heel element (14) is attached so that it can swivel backwards into a step-in position lying substantially parallel to the surface of the board. With the instep element (5,6) fixed, the boot (2) can be inserted into the binding. Operating devices (15) swivel the heel element forwards into a predefined closing position where it is held to support the boot and press against the instep element. The operating devices have a first strap (15) fixed either side on the front of the base element to engage round the heel element on the outside. A second strap fixed on the upper part of the heel element is connected to the first strap so that tensile force acting on the second strap slides the first strap along the outside of the heel element towards the free end and thus swivels the heel element into the closing position. The position of the heel element can be adjusted by changing the length of the first strap.
