Lubricated supply for automatic, epicyclic car gearbox

In the gearbox housing (2) is indirectly fitted a planetary gear set (4,5) on an output shaft (3). The pressurised lubricant is supplied to the planetary gears (6,7) via radial bores in the sun wheel.The lubricant supply starts in a cavity (19) in the gearbox housing and passes via a leakage gap (23) between the output shaft and its component, to the sun wheel, cross-piece (11,16,22), and a ring gear carrier (13). The cavity between the latter and an annular shoulder (15) of the gearbox housing is sealed. Pref. a piston ring (25) in an extension of the ring gear carrier is used as the seal.
