Positioning and monitoring of bulk goods delivery vehicles

Equipment for positioning delivery vehicles to make automatic random tests of bulk loads, particularly agricultural produce such as turnips or potatoes for industrial applications, consists of a roadway (13) with induction strips (14) activated by the vehicle (3), after it passes a transponder which identifies it. A swing barrier (16) across the road bears a distance sensor (12) and preferably three lights (9,10,11) with changeable symbols or colours. There are also distance sensors (6) in the side barriers.An overhead gantry (4) across the roadway carries the sampling equipment (5) above the load surface of the vehicle and/or its trailer. This transmits signals from a series of samples, taken at random along the length of the load, to a screen. The system may also incorporate a vehicle weighbridge.
