The wheel brakes are operated independently by a pressure controller (5) which processes input data to determine the individual torques to be applied and issues corresp. commands to the brake valves.The inputs include measurements of individual wheel speeds, yaw angular velocity (psi dot) and transverse acceleration (a quer) of the vehicle. The electronic controllers of antilock braking (ABS) (7), wheel-slip correction (ASR) (8), braking force distribution (EBV) (9) and yaw moment (GMR) (10) operate in parallel and independently of one another in working out the braking pressure requirements for the individual wheels in accordance with suitable control strategies.
