In a process for tuning a mobile radio receiver to transmitters broadcasting information, preferably traffic information, relevant to the particular position of the receiver, the position of the radio receiver at the time is determined. Input values dependent on the position determined are used to readout output values (programme identification codes) from a stored list which are characteristic of those transmitters which have information relevant to the position determined. The radio receiver is tuned to a transmitter with one of those transmitter identifications (programme identification codes).
