Two ultrasonic range finding transducers (C1,C2) on the front of the machine at vegetation level measure the distances (d1,d2) from their respective sides of the row of vegetation (whether between or outside the front wheels), while foot contact sensors (C1'C2') ahead of the rear wheels detect deviation from the line of centres of its stumps.The steering column (1) is coupled to an electric motor (M1) whose max. torque is capable of being overridden by a driver using the steering wheel (2) when necessary. The programmed control module responds also to sensors of steering angle (C3) and speed.
