Prodn. of a blank for a reamer guide involves grinding a (ceramic) cutting material into the form of a basic guide member body (20) and coating the body at least partially with diamond and/or boron nitride in a CVD unit. Also claimed is a process for finishing a reamer, in which a CVD-coated blank (24) is inserted in the groove of a cutter head and ground round to size. Further claimed are (i) a reamer with at least one guide member comprising a CVD diamond and/or cubic boron nitride coated basic body; and (ii) a guide member for a reamer or boring or fine drilling tool, the member consisting of a CVD diamond and/or cubic boron nitride coated basic cutting material body. |
