PURPOSE:To shorten the time extending from the interruption to the restart and extending from the restart to the end by carrying a document whose copying is not completed yet on the way of carrying in the direction opposite to the carrying direction and returning it to the supply end side, when abnormality of a document feeding means, a recording paper feeding means and a copying means is detected. CONSTITUTION:Abnormality detecting means S7 - S22 detect such abnormal states as, for instance, a paper jam of a document D or recording paper P, consumption of the recording paper P to be supplied or a fault of a copying means, etc., generated in a document feeding means 1, a recording paper feeding means 3 and the copying means. A control means controls an operation of the document feeding means 1 so that the document D which is on the way of carrying in a document carrying route 14 of the document feeding means 1, and whose copying to the recording paper P is not completed yet or whose copying is not executed is carried in the direction opposite to the carrying direction of the document D along the document carrying route 14 and returned to the supply end side, in response to an output of the abnormality detecting means S7 - S22. In such a way, when the abnormal state is generated, the time until the interrupted copying operation is restarted and the time until the restarted copying operation is ended are shortened. |
