PURPOSE:To realize the detection of size which does not cause a cut image or a wide margin by providing a length signal generation means and an original size discrimination means. CONSTITUTION:The length signal of the carrying direction of an original is generated by the length signal generation means (AN3, C02, OR1 or the like) by utilizing the original detection signal of a first original sensor(MS1). Besides, size information which satisfies rectangular size regulated by both of the length signal and the output signals of second original sensors(MS2 and MS3) and shows regular original size which is near to the rectangular size is generated by the original size discrimination means(AN1, AN2-, FF1 or the like) by combining both of the signals. Then, the information satisfies the actual length of the original as for the length direction of the original and shows the regular size of the length which is the nearest to the actual length. Therefore, the size detection of the original which does not cause the cut image or the comparatively wide margin with respect to the actual length is realized even in the case of the irregular size original. |
