The device proposed includes a test unit (P), control devices (S, F) connected to the test unit by a data-transmission line and at least one ignition key fitted with a transponder (G). When the ignition key is inserted in the ignition, the test unit (P) transmits a request signal through the data-transmission line (BUS) to all the control devices (S, F), which then transmit back recognition codes which are compared with reference codes. The test unit (P) prevents the engine from being started if less than a predetermined number of the control devices (S, F) respond with their recognition code. The test unit (P) clears all the control devices (S, F) for use if, on interrogation, at least the predetermined number of control devices (S, F) respond with their recognition code. |
