PURPOSE: To optimally control the stability of an engine by performing the filter processing for lowering the signal level of a specified frequency zone to the engine condition signal to be used for computing the spark-advance and lag signal correction quantity of the ignition period. CONSTITUTION: Control quantity for changing air-fuel ratio or the condition of the engine intake air-fuel mixture such as EGR is controlled by a burning stability control means C so as to control an internal combustion engine within the desirable stability. Furthermore, in the case of correctively controlling the ignition period with an ignition period correcting means F, filter processing for eliminating the specified frequency component through a filter means E is performed on the basis of the ignition period correction quantity, which is computed by an ignition period correction quantity computing means D, so as to eliminate the bad influence due to the corrective control of the ignition control to the detection of the burning stability. Ignition period is controlled on the basis of the ignition period correction quantity after the processing. Even in the case where the burning stability control and the ignition period corrective control are performed, the excellent control of burning stability is enabled without generating the interference with each other. |
