PURPOSE: To produce a stainless steel sheet causing no irregularity in the depth of a half-etched part and having superior etching workability. CONSTITUTION: In this stainless steel sheet for etching, the maximum value of Si concentrations in the part between a position at a depth of 0.5μm from the surface and this surface is regulated to <=10atomic%. This steel sheet for etching can be produced by picking or polishing the surfaces of known various stainless steel sheets.
