<p>PURPOSE: To provide a sorter which not only sorts and discharges recording papers but also is usable as a mail box, wherein the mail box is such that a recording paper can be discharged to a specified bin to take out the discharged recording paper by a specified operator. CONSTITUTION: A recording paper is advanced from the arrowed direction A, carried by a roller pair 5, and discharged to a cassette 2a-2e by a gate mechanism not shown. Denoted at 3a-3e are lids rotatably supported by the cassettes 2a-2e, respectively. When the device is used as a sorter, the cassettes 2c-2e are situated in positions shown in the drawing, and the lids 3c-3e are opened. When the cassettes 2a, 2b are used as mail boxes, the cassettes 2a, 2b are moved to the positions shown in the drawing by an operator. The lids 3a-3b are closed by a rotating mechanism not shown. When the operator takes out the recording papers from the cassettes 2a, 2b, the necessary information is inputted through a control panel 7, whereby the lids 3a, 3b are opened.</p> |
